Subjected to torture

Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment
or punishment.

Separation from the people you love is torture, no access to books in the language of your choice is torture, no access to the Internet (the medium of your choice for your education) is torture, etc..

I know that some or many people do not see it this way, but I see it this way because I experienced it this way.

Physical torture is now quite rare but beating and the threat of physical hurting you is very common in many countries. Now they mostly torture the soul, they hurt your feeling again and again. Here are a few ways that is done:

By not informing you of your rights.
By telling you are lying when you tell the true.
By not listening to you with love.
By forcing you to speak even you do not want.
By keeping looked in a place where you do not want to stay.
By separating you from people you love.
By not providing the food you need and request.
By shaming you for innocent things.
By taking away from you your power to decide about your life.
By looking at you with a hard look.
